The Big Read 2009 Chicago Style is a joint effort of Boundless Readers and National-Louis University to engage more people in reading for pleasure.  The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest.  It is designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and bring the transformative power of literature to more people.

Focusing on Sun, Stone and Shadows: 20 Great Mexican Short Stories, activities from mid-October through mid-November include a kick-off celebration, panel discussion, stage dramatizations, 100 book discussion groups across Chicago, and facilitator training for those interested in leading a discussion group.  All events are free and open to the public.

The Big Read 2009 Chicago Style is made possible by the Darrell R. Windle Charitable Fund and the NEA.
