Teachers who read are the best teachers of readers.
Boundless Readers believes that the potential for individual student growth is infinitely enhanced when the teacher is a reader. Teachers who read bring an enthusiasm, an understanding, and a purpose to reading that motivates their students.
Boundless Readers provides multiple opportunities for teachers to become enthusiastic and insightful readers. For example, each year we coordinate 120 book discussions (TACAR Book Groups) across the city for Boundless Readers teachers.
Boundless Readers focuses on discussion as an exercise in shared inquiry to promote learning and teaching. We believe that a well-facilitated discussion requires equal standing among participants. It involves articulating and challenging one’s own thoughts, and listening and respecting the opinions of others.
Our specially trained facilitators help group members develop a shared understanding of text in a collaborative manner. This level of collaboration and acceptance of diverse viewpoints offers the potential for broadening perspective and deepening understanding.
