Student Impacts
Students are the ultimate beneficiary of Boundless Readers work with teachers.  We expect that students will achieve more positive attitudes towards reading, deeper comprehension of text, and improved expression of ideas.

In a recent study of 6th-8th graders at 16 Chicago schools, students from the Boundless Readers schools evidenced greater improvements in their motivation to read than students at matched comparison schools.  Since we know that reading attitude affects the amount time a student spends reading and we know that the more you read the better reader you will become, this increase in student motivation is significant.

Teachers from these same 16 schools reported on students’ status in meeting a broad range of literary standards, from the ability to ask good questions about what they read to the ability to interpret beyond the literal facts of a text.  Again, the Boundless Readers schools report greater gains in students reaching targeted literacy standards than comparison schools.

Middle grade students at Boundless Readers schools made greater gains on the ISAT Reading standardized tests than either comparison school students OR students at their own schools whose teachers were not participating in the Boundless Readers program.
