A consummate reader herself, Nancy is passionate not only about children learning to read, but about them experiencing pleasure and joy in reading.

“Reading opens the world to everyone,” she says.  “It’s absolutely the most critical skill anyone can possess.”

When it comes to teaching children to read, Nancy feels professional development is crucial. “Boundless Readers’ professional development programs utilize research-based evidence in training. With that, teachers are learning to employ the very best strategies to provide the best outcomes for our children.”

How do we help kids develop a passion for reading? Nancy feels teachers, along with parents, are the ones who instill a love of reading in our children. “Teachers and parents need to read aloud to our children.  And we need to engage them in a variety of forms of literature -- not every child is going to like the same thing.  That’s why it’s great that Boundless Readers provides classrooms with a broad range of different types of children’s and young adult literature. Ultimately, something is going to ‘hook’ them causing them to read more, truly enjoy the experience, and develop a real passion.”
