RLTA: TACAR Book Discussion Groups
Boundless Readers believes that the best teachers of readers are readers themselves. As such, we provide a variety of opportunities for teachers to participate in book discussion groups. Our goal is to increase awareness of self as reader and the implications this has for their students. The purpose is NOT to teach skills to apply in the classroom.
Through Teachers and Children as Readers (TACAR), Boundless Readers conducts 120 teacher book discussion groups throughout the school year. Volunteer teacher leaders – current and alumni participants, trained and supported by Boundless Readers – co-facilitate monthly book discussion groups throughout the city.
Groups of 8-10 teachers meet monthly to read and discuss adult books and then reflect on the experience with fellow teachers from other schools.
The first book of each new school year is chosen by Boundless Readers, and then each group decides upon the monthly book they wish to read.
Alumni teacher participants are welcome to join current participants in the book groups.
